24 Weeks Pregnant (Day 162 to Day 168)
What happens to you?
You may get your first stretch marks on your belly, waist, thighs and breasts. Hydrate your skin and apply some special product to help improve skin elasticity.
As your belly’s connective tissue stretches, you might experience some belly ache or get itchy due to your skin’s dryness. Take a warm shower followed by a gentle massage with a soothing cream. If the pain continues, contact your physician.
If you are having heartburns, avoid eating spicy foods and drinking coffee. Try also to eat small portions of frequent meals and chew your food well.
Help your body to absorb more nutrients and adjust its temperature by drinking at least 8 glasses of water on a daily basis.
You can have sex with your partner, unless your doctor has advised otherwise.
The top of your uterus is now above your belly button.
What happens to your baby?
Your baby is hyperactive this week as it still has plenty of room to move around and still gains weight rapidly as the muscles, bones, organs and tissues develop.
Meconium and the baby's first stools are forming. The vernix protects your baby’s skin from the amniotic fluid.
Your baby’s brain and taste buds continue to grow rapidly.
It can hear your heartbeat and the sounds of your stomach and starts to suck its fingers.
