27 Weeks Pregnant (Day 183 to Day 189)

What happens to you?

You have now entered the last trimester of your pregnancy.

You need to have the glucose tolerance test. This test can diagnose gestational diabetes. Gestational diabetes is a temporary form of diabetes appearing during pregnancy; glucose levels usually return to normal after delivery.

If you notice any vaginal discharge (leukorrhea), you should contact your doctor immediately.

You may experience night leg cramps. You may have hemorrhoids and varicose veins; they will disappear after labor. Leg cramps may become more intense as your pregnancy progresses.

Advice: Start childbirth education classes.

What happens to your baby?

Your baby is growing bigger and claims more space inside your uterus. You can see the baby move from the outside.

It can open and close its eyes while its brain is under constant development.

The alveoli are covered with a surfactant that helps your baby breathe after labor.

Baby’s length has now reached 37 centimeters and weighs 900 grams.
